“Give a bowl of rice to a man and you will feed him for a day. Teach him how to grow his own rice and you will save his life.” Confucius
Our vision is to unlock the power in people. We believe that each individual holds all the answers to their questions and has the ability and resources to do whatever they need to do to achieve their outcomes.
However, sometimes the individual themselves does not believe this and needs support and guidance to unlock their inner power.
Here are some common coaching tools that can help you get started. Each headed section gives a brief introduction and provides a selection of tools that you can download to explore your inner self and develop strategies for change and plans for action.
Stress is a term used to describe a state of mental or emotional strain that is triggered in response to a stimulus.
When the stress state is triggered our instinctive “fight or flight” response activates a series of neurological reactions to prepare us for high performance, physically and psychologically, for a period of around 20 minutes.
Building Strong Relationships
Humans have two basic instincts – to survive and to connect. When we interact with others we automatically assess whether we trust or distrust them, resulting in either an instinct to protect ourselves or connect with others.
Trust influences how we communicate – with low levels of trust we tend to communicate to give/receive information or influence others and with high levels of trust we are able to connect and collaborate.
Maintaining a Healthy Mind
We are all familiar with the benefits of maintaining a healthy body, borne out by the thriving health and fitness industry promoting practices involving:
- Diet and nutrition
- Physical fitness & exercise
But how many of us pay as much attention to maintaining a healthy mind?
Defining your Goals
The dictionary defines a goal as the object of a person’s ambition or effort, an aim or desired result.
Goals can be very targeted or they can be treated as an intent or destination, setting the context for actions without getting too attached to the outcome.
It is important to define your goals clearly because if you don’t you are likely to drift, making you susceptible to being at the mercy of someone else’s goals.
Living your Values
Values are a fundamental part of what makes us strive for anything in life. They are our raison d’etre that inform our goals and influence our behaviours.
Values are a way of being that sit above what we have or do – if we are being the person we want to be, it is less important what outcomes are achieved.
From Ideas to Actions
“A goal without a deadline is a dream”, Napoleon Hill, and “A goal without a plan is just a wish” Antoine de Sainte-Exupery.
As these quotes intimate, without a plan and deadlines your ideas and goals will remain just that.
To realise the outcomes associated with achieving your goal you need to create a plan, allocate deadlines and take action.
